Government funding for childcare can be confusing. At Magical Moments Preschool in Westfield, Woking, we simplify the process so you can access the support you deserve.
What is Funded Childcare?
The government provides funded early education for children aged 2, 3, and 4. This funding helps working families manage childcare costs and gives every child access to high-quality education before primary school.
In Surrey, this funding is administered by Surrey County Council and delivered by approved providers like us.
The Universal 15 Hours
Everyone is entitled to this. All 3 and 4-year-olds in England are eligible for 570 hours of free early education per year. This is typically taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year (term time).
At Magical Moments, we offer these hours flexibly across our morning and afternoon sessions to fit your routine.
The 30 Hours Extended Entitlement
Working parents may be eligible for an additional 15 hours a week, bringing the total to 30 hours. To qualify, you generally need to:
- Be in work (including self-employment)
- Earn at least the National Minimum Wage or Living Wage for 16 hours a week
- Earn less than £100,000 per year
Funding for 2-Year-Olds (FEET)
Some 2-year-olds are eligible for 15 hours of funded childcare if you receive specific benefits. In Surrey, this is known as FEET (Free Early Education for Two-year-olds).
We also accept the new working parent entitlement for 2-year-olds which began rolling out in April 2024.
